Lucinda Clinic Update
We are excited to be welcoming Lucinda Green back for the 18th year!! Wow, I can't believe it's been that long! For many of you, you know the drill, but for those who haven't below is a memo that Lucinda has asked be to forward to all clinic participants.
Participants' Requirements
• The first
day we will be using stadium jumps to study Cross - Country technique.
• The second
day we will be out on the Cross - Country course --- consolidating …
• There will
be no dressage work on either day.
• Please be
warmed up by lesson time, but no jumping.
• You need to
come equipped, both yourself and your horse, as for Cross - Country on both
days. Please bring following equipment:
.... Skull
cap (with harness that fits);
.... Body
Protector;
.... Non
leather gloves (if worn), Leather can slip;
.... Spurs
- please bring with you to the lesson --- don't wear them unless you
usually do;
....
Jumping whip (obligatory).

Horses
We don't want to waste time searching for tack, etc.,
or if we need to experiment......
• If you do not usually wear a running
martingale, it is worth knotting one under the neck (or bring a breastplate attachment in your
pocket) - do not forget stops on the reins.

the reins if you do not usually wear one.
• Please
bring to the actual lesson any other bit that you ... or someone else
... might need to try out.

I'm still waiting for the final payment from 3 people. If you would like me to send you an invoice so you can pay by credit card please let me know. I also haven't heard from some of you as to what you're going to be bringing for the pot luck lunch. Believe it or not, for the first time in 18 years we're actually going to have time for lunch on both days, so be sure to bring plenty of food to share. We will be setting up lunch under the top covered bleachers as that worked well last year. If you need an electrical outlet to heat something up in a crock pot you will have to bring it up to the house and plug it in on the front porch. I also have an extra refrigerator if you need to keep something cold.
For those who have not been here before here's a link to directions to the farm and a map of the farm to help you find your way around. For those who are stabling, feel free to help yourself to any stall. Please remember to strip your stall before leaving.
Below is the schedule. I apologize in advance to some of you
because I ended up having to schedule you earlier because of various
scheduling conflict. I hope everyone is OK with it. Please plan on coming early or staying later to watch and of course help set fences. BTW, we will be in the sand show jumping ring the first day so there will be no need for studs ;) However, I do request that you wear a medical armband every day especially if you are traveling alone.
Auditors are welcome and each clinic participant is welcome to bring one person with them at no charge. Auditing is $20 with members of Pony Club, NEOMTA, Area VIII Adult Rider & Young Rider programs pay $10.

Eric Dierks Clinic ~ Important Info ~ March 23 - 24

Keep in mind that the drive is 1/4 mile long and is ONE WAY. There is room to pass at the curve in the drive. But please use caution. Also, although there is a fair amount of room in the parking lot, please park behind trailers that are already there beginning at the indoor and working your way out. That way trailers can pull out and there will be plenty of room for the next group of trailers to come in. Horses will enter the arena from the far end of the parking lot.
We have a full day scheduled and the groups have been put together by level. The time allowed for the lesson is based on the number of riders in the group; scroll down to the bottom on the page for the schedule. In order to help keep things running smoothly and on time Eric is encouraging riders to come early and watch some of the lessons so you have a better idea of what to expect and hopefully he won't have to repeat his introduction for every lesson. He's also going to give a short presentation on Sat during lunch time and encourages everyone to bring a notebook and pen. You may watch the lessons from the comfort of the lounge or get up close and personal and be in the ring with Eric and help set fences. Depending on the conditions, the outdoor ring may be available for warm up.
Upon arrival at HWF you should check in at the lounge (up the ramp between the barn and indoor) first to sign release forms, leave payment if applicable, (a gray folder will be on the counter for release forms and payments) see if we're running on time, if the outdoor ring is available for warm up, and to drop off anything that you may have brought for the 'pot luck' lunch. There is a refrigerator, oven and microwave in the lounge. I will be providing soup and a salad as well as hot chocolate & cider packets. Just as a reminder please be sure to remove your footwear in the lounge. If you need to use a rest room and don't want to be bothered taking off your boots; go into the barn on the parking lot side & go through 2 sets of gray swinging doors & you will find a rest room on the back left corner of the tack room.
For those of you who requiring stabling, there are 3 stalls available at 'His Way Farm' and they will be assigned on a 'first come' basis as well as distance traveled. Please be reminded that, unless you ordered bedding, no bedding is provided. For those who are stabling at SGF, you may pick any stalls but keep in mind that Kyle is using the north side of the pipe barn for training horses.

Despite the weather and the change in game plan I'm really looking forward to riding with Eric and I hope you are too. Keep your fingers crossed that the wind continues to blow (for now) and that any more precipitation is kept to a minimum so that it dries out enough to do cross country on Sun!

Feb 10 'Developing Instincts' Lesson Schedule
What a difference a week makes!! The temps are going to close to 30 degrees warmer and the best part, NO SNOW!! Although it may be a little chilly Sun morning; it definitely is going to be better than last weekend.
I had several people decided to have me come their farm rather than trailer to His Way Farm and it's actually a good thing because I had more people decide they wanted to join in so this way I was able to accommodate everyone who wanted to ride. The only problem was that I had a few people who had time constraints and others that were hauling together and it made scheduling rather challenging. I'm afraid that it is going to make a rather early morning for some of you who have a distance to travel. I apologize but I did the best I could do and just think of it as practice for the upcoming event season ;)
Since some of you have not been to VanScoy's before I have made a Google map to help you find your way to the farm. Click here to view the map before you plug the address into your GPS. If not, you may find yourself on Teegarden Rd which has a fairly significant hill with S turns which aren't ideal for horse trailers. If you're driving a car you'll be just fine.
